UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT

A weekly schedule is a commitment between maintenance and operations about executable work. Start with priorities and operating windows, then check material, skills, tools and dependencies. Filling every available hour with low-confidence work produces a fragile plan.

Freeze a reference schedule at an agreed point and record later changes with reasons. Compare completed scheduled hours with the original committed hours using a documented metric. Break-in emergency work should remain visible so the team can understand what displaced the plan.

Questions to take back to your team

  1. Who agrees the operating windows?
  2. When is the reference schedule frozen?
  3. Are additions and removals recorded with reasons?
