UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT
Role-based access groups permissions around work responsibilities. A planner, technician, approver and customer administrator need different capabilities. Permission to view a record is distinct from permission to change it, approve it or export it.
Define scope as well as action: company, site, area or record ownership may matter. Review exceptional access and remove it when no longer needed. Test permissions with realistic users and direct requests, not only by checking whether a menu item is hidden.
Questions to take back to your team
- Which actions belong to each responsibility?
- What organization and site scope applies?
- Are permissions enforced beyond the visible interface?
