UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT
Operator rounds collect observations at defined locations and intervals. Each point should have a clear purpose, units where applicable and a defined response to an exception. An unchecked list of readings is not useful if nobody reviews what they mean.
Keep the approved operating instructions separate from the data-entry interface while linking the correct revision. Record missed rounds and reasons rather than filling assumed values. Trend observations in context, including operating mode and instrument condition.
Questions to take back to your team
- What decision does each observation support?
- Are units and operating context captured?
- Who reviews exceptions and missing rounds?
